Rules and Regulations

Local Rules - Pretoria Country Club

Suspension of Play (Rule 6 -8 b or 22 – 2d)
A prolonged of the course warning system is to signify there is lightning or another danger in the area and play and practice have been suspended in terms of Rule 6-8(a).  Players on the course must mark and lift their balls in accordance with Rule 6-8(c) and discontinue play and practice immediately and if possible, promptly get off the golf course and the practice areas. If not possible, seek cover of proceed to a designated storm shelter.  A player may abandon play before the warning system has sounded Rule 6-8(a)(ii). Players must resume play only after the Committee has ordered a resumption of play by sounding the course warning system in repeated short notes.

At your own risk
All players use the golf course and the club’s facilities at their own risk and the Club shall not be held liable for any personal injury or incur any liability which may result from such use to whomsoever.

Out of Bounds (Rule 27-1)
Beyond all boundaries and areas demarcated by white stakes including the areas left of the 13th hole, right of the 15th hole, left of the 17th hole, and left and beyond the 18th hole.  Objects defining out of bounds such as fences and stakes are obstructions and are deemed to be fixed.  A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies out of bounds.

Water Hazards (Rule 26 -1b)
Dams, streams and wetland areas defined by yellow stakes.

Lateral Water Hazards (Rule 26 – ic)
Dams, streams and wetland areas defined by red stakes.

Obstructions (Rule 24)
All satellite boxed, storm shelters, benches, ball washers, dustbins, water points, cart paths and roads are immovable obstructions (Rule 24-2b)

Protection of young trees
Young trees are demarcated by white stakes. Should such a tree interfere with a player’s stance or the area of his intended swing, relief must be taken within one club length from the nearest point of relief.

GUR (Rule33)
Ground marked by order of the Committee or so declared by its authorized representative.  All cultivated gardens are ground under repair from which play is prohibited.  If a player’s ball lies in the area, or it interferes with the player’s stance or the area of his intended swing, the players must take relief.

Bunkers
Geo textile walls and steps are an intregral part of the course.

Dropping Zones
Dropping zone on hole 15 is in force for balls that come to rest in flowerbed behind green.

Embedded Ball
an embedded ball through the green may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped within one club length, not nearer the hole.
Distance measuring devices (Rule14-3)
For all play at this course a player may use a distance measuring device (range finder) to obtain distance information.  However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a device that actually provides him with information on other conditions that might affect his play (eg. Gradient or wind), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3

Important Notices
Boundary Fence – The Club’s boundaries are protected by an electric fence that is dangerous to touch at any time.
Pace of Play – Please adhere to the Guidelines set by the Committee and the Course Marshall’s instructions, to avoid penalty.
Motorized Carts – Are not allowed within 10 metres of any green, please adhere to direction markers.
